Senior Services

Skamania County Senior Services is sponsored by Skamania County to develop and implement a comprehensive and coordinated group of services to meet the needs of disabled persons, and persons 60 years and over in Skamania County. Funds to operate the various programs are provided through contracts with the Southwest Washington Agency on Aging, Washington State Department of Transportation, by local donations, and Skamania County.

The goal of Skamania County Senior Services is to assist individuals to live as independently as possible and avoid inappropriate institutionalization by providing a range of health and social services to Skamania County adults.

Nutrition Program - The oldest, most popular program, provided primarily from funds allocated by the Older Americans Act, is aimed at people over 60 who are physically and emotionally able to benefit from a social setting. Noon meals are served Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Rock Creek Recreation Center in Stevenson. The purpose is to provide older adults with a hot, nutritious meal and an opportunity to socialize while eating with friends.

Home Delivered Meals - These meals are available for those people who are homebound and have a special long-term or emergency need.

Transportation - Senior Services provides transportation to Skamania County residents of all ages to medical and social service appointments as well as financial, social, and shopping services. Transportation is provided to senior meals as well. If you need transportation please call 509-427-3990 and get on the schedule.

Social Events - Special social events are planned throughout the year, including a monthly birthday luncheon for all county seniors.

Client need, resources and income are assessed in cooperation with the Department of Social and Health Services to determine which programs are suitable for each client.
