Road Conditions
Check here for road closures in Skamania County during the winter months.
03/28/08: Highway 30 is open from Carson to Curly Creek Road and up to FS 90. There are still some restrictions on FS 90.
03/21/2008: Open from Carson to Curly Creek Road. Traction tires or chains recommended. December 1 - April 1, 2008 closure at Lone Butte.
02/29/2008, 10:50 a.m. Wind River Highway is open to MP 30.24 which provides access to Lone Butte Sno-Park. Old Man Pass remains available for snow sledding only with no parking for cross country skiing. Koshko Sno-Park is accessible for cross country skiers. Lone Butte is open for snowmobile use. Please remember - NO PARKING ON THE ROADWAYS IF THE SNO-PARKS ARE FULL.
02/14/2008, 10:00 a.m. Wind River Highway will be open to MP 26 effective tomorrow, Friday, February 15. It will remain closed beyond that point. Old Man Pass, for the snow sledding area only, will be open. There will be no parking for cross country skiing at Old Man Pass. Koshko Sno-Park will be accessible for cross country skiers, just north of Old Man Pass. Koshko provides access to the same trail system as Old Man Pass. Parking may be limited at both locations. DO NOT PARK ON THE ROADWAYS IF PARKING LOTS ARE FULL.
02/08/2008, 5:00 p.m. Wind River Highway continues to be closed at MP 15 due to excessive snow. Estimated date of opening will be some time next week.
02/01/2008, 3:20 p.m. Forest Road 90 is closed due to snow at the junction of FS 90 and FS 25. The 90/25 junction is near the Pine Creek Information Center, the old school house and the Eagle Cliff Store. FS 90 has packed snow with only a single lane passable beginning from the FS 90/FS 83 junction on the west, through to the FS 90/FS 25 junction on the east. Drivers should limit travel on FS 90 between the 83 and 25 junctions because of the single lane on FS 90 which makes turning around difficult and vehicles may become stuck and/or stranded in the snow.
01/31/2008, 1:37 p.m. Wind River Highway (Highway 30) has been closed at milepost 14, just past the Carson National Fish Hatchery to the Curly Creek Road cutoff because of excessive snow (over four feet). Included in the closure are sno-parks at Old Man Pass, Koshko, McClellan Meadows, Curly Creek, Rush Creek and Lone Butte.
Government Mineral Springs Sno-Park will remain open.
Wind River Highway closure will continue until further notice as more snow is expected.
